Qatar - Startups in Qatar now have a significant opportunity to accelerate their business growth, as the Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) opens applications for the 18th wave of its flagship Lean Startup Program (LSP). Aimed at startups in the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stage, this 12-week program provides crucial support for entrepreneurs looking to validate their business models, acquire early adopters, and increase investment readiness. Applications are open until 28 September 2024, with the cohort kicking off on 6 October 2024.

The LSP is renowned for its hands-on approach to guiding startups through the process of finding the right product-market fit. Participating startups will engage in rigorous experimentation and customer validation, which are essential steps in refining revenue models and go-to-market strategies. The focus of this 18th cohort is on startups operating within Tech Transformation, EnterpriseTech, MobilityTech, and SportsTech—industries that align with Qatar’s national priorities for innovation and economic diversification.

QBIC, a key part of Qatar's entrepreneurial ecosystem, has been instrumental in nurturing local startups since its establishment in 2014. As part of Qatar Development Bank's (QDB) initiatives, it supports the national goal of diversifying the economy beyond oil and gas by developing a strong sector of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Through specialized programs like the LSP, QBIC provides crucial resources including mentorship, office space, and access to funding.

Previous waves of the Lean Startup Program have been highly successful, with 291 startups graduating to date. Graduates have gone on to secure investments, scale their businesses, and contribute to Qatar's thriving innovation landscape. By focusing on sectors like tech and mobility, this new wave of startups is expected to address emerging challenges in Qatar’s rapidly evolving economy.

For early-stage entrepreneurs in Qatar, this is a golden opportunity to refine their business concepts, learn from industry experts, and position themselves for future growth. Startups accepted into the program do not need to be officially registered companies, making it accessible to entrepreneurs at different stages of their journey.
