The first E-commerce Hackathon in the State of Qatar with the objective to drive sustained innovation and crowdsource solutions to address, nurture, and launch the latest innovation opportunities in the growing universe of e-commerce.

Hackathon

A time-bound competitive event aimed at participant collaboration to build a proof of concept/prototype for a specific use case identified out of the shortlisted e-commerce categories, this Hackathon is designed to give the brightest thinkers and innovators a platform from which entrepreneurial ideas can be developed.

From understanding customers’ buying behavior to providing personalized services to online shoppers, artificial intelligence has become an essential component of the e-commerce industry. This category is for the participants passionate about disrupting the industry further with the innovative use of AI.

Mobile Commerce

Unique mobile commerce is the use of wireless handheld devices like mobile phones and tablets to conduct commercial transactions online, including the purchase and sale of products, online banking, and paying bills. This category is for participants aspiring to improve this increasingly large subset of e-commerce.

ECommerce

E-commerce payment solutions facilitate the acceptance of electronic payments for online transactions. The category is for those participants who intend to change the status quo in this area.

marketing-automation

Marketing automation covers the wide area of e-commerce marketing from automating email marketing to scheduling social media posts. This category is for the participants eager to bring in innovative and creative solutions to improve marketing automation.

customer-experience

E-commerce customer experience refers specifically to the digital experience a business delivers to a customer. Choose this category if it is your goal to optimize, orchestrate and inspire experiences that will help guide customers, whether B2B or B2C, along their paths to purchase.

Technologies like AR, VR, 3D Product Visualization, and 3D Product Rendering have opened up a realm of possibilities, improving the customer experience and saving costs for the adapting e-commerce companies. This category is for participants who have ideas to enhance these experiences.

Last Mile Delivery makes up for over 50 per cent of the total cost of shipping. To override these cost drivers, the tech industry has stepped up to deliver packages directly from local distributors to customers. In this category, candidates who wish to make headways in the Last Mile Delivery Technology are welcome to demonstrate their unique ideas.

Taking the
Hackathon Hybrid

The hackathon will be a 4-day hybrid event. The participants who are present in Doha, Qatar, will be participating in-person from Innovation Cafe’s facilities located in Doha and the participants from the other 9 countries will be participating virtually.

We will be using Slack and Zoom as platforms for the hackathon.

We’re inviting university students, startups, entrepreneurs, e-commerce companies, and any potential individual interested and experienced in the e-commerce sector from the selected 10 countries to participate in Qatar’s first e-commerce hackathon.

If you think you have what it takes to disrupt the fast-paced e-commerce industry, we would be more than happy to have you.

We prefer that you do, but don’t worry if you don’t have all the answers; the hackathon will kick off with an ideation phase, which should help you refine your idea.

The hackathon will be hosted in a hybrid mode. The participants already present in Qatar are encouraged to participate from Innovation Cafe’s facilities in Doha. The participants from outside Qatar will be participating virtually and do not need to travel to Doha.

Yes, you can apply for the hackathon as an individual or as a team. You will have an opportunity to find other team members in the hackathon.
